Mr. Speaker, we have demonstrated from day one that we are there to work with the provinces to invest in the care economy, whether it is commitments to raise personal support worker wages to $25 an hour, whether it is through our historic child care agreements that are creating wage grids for early childhood educators or whether it is moving forward on strengthening support for indigenous communities and for care workers in and from indigenous communities, we will continue to be there.
We recognize there is more work to do. We are there to do it, hand in hand with the different jurisdictions across the country.

Mr. Speaker, I suggest that the Leader of the Opposition speak to people in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, who are seeing historic investments from Germany, which is looking at them because of the investments in hydrogen, in the clean economy and offshore wind.
I suggest that he speak to his member from St. Thomas, Ontario, where the Volkswagen plant is going to land because of the historic leadership we have shown in clean electricity and drawing in innovation investments. Members have not heard the leader of the official opposition talk at all about the benefits of that investment in Volkswagen because he has no plans for the future of the economy.

Mr. Speaker, I want to thank the member for Guelph for his extraordinary hard work.
Volkswagen's decision to build its first North American battery facility in Canada is a generational investment in jobs and clean growth. The plant will create thousands of direct and tens of thousands indirect jobs in St. Thomas and across Canada's battery and EV ecosystems.
While the Leader of the Opposition continues to bet against Canada and our workers, and prefers to call it a waste, on this side, we will continue to push for a strong economy, good-paying jobs and cleaner air.

Mr. Speaker, we join the member for London West and all Canadians in celebrating the fact that Volkswagen chose St. Thomas, Ontario, for their first-ever battery factory in North America.
This historic investment is a major vote of confidence in Canadian workers and in Canadians' battery ecosystem. It shows that our country is a green supplier of choice. That is why it was so puzzling to see the opposition leader criticize this announcement, even as members of his own caucus celebrated our landmark step forward for Canadian jobs and Canadian families.

Mr. Speaker, every step of the way the government has had Canadians' backs, and we will continue to have their backs through these difficult times.
We know we are continuing to lower Canadians' cellphone bills. We did that by 25%, as promised. We committed to working with provinces and territories to cut child care fees in half this year. Families are already seeing real savings as a result. We committed to raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, and it increased again on April 1. Also, by delivering an enhanced Canada worker benefit, more families will benefit from that support.
We will continue to be there to support families across the country.

Mr. Speaker, we made a promise to be there for Canadians, and that is exactly what we are doing and what we have done.
We have done this by increasing the Canada child benefit in line with the cost of living, creating $10-a-day child care across the country, increasing the guaranteed income supplement for the most vulnerable seniors and providing more assistance to students through affordable housing.
We also made a commitment to reduce cellphone bills by 25%, and we have done that. We committed to working with the provinces and territories to reduce child care costs, and we are doing that. We committed to increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, and the list goes on. We will continue to be there for families.
