Mr. Speaker, we are very happy to work with anyone in the House to ensure that Canadians no longer have to choose between paying for groceries and paying for their medication. Yes, we are moving forward with free diabetes medication. Perhaps we learned today why the Conservatives are so vehemently opposed to it. It is because their anti-choice leader allows his anti-choice MPs to argue against abortion and contraception. We need to be unequivocal when it comes to defending women's rights, and that includes pharmacare.

Mr. Speaker, we recognize that many Canadians are facing extremely difficult times, which is why we are continuing to step up our supports across the country for food banks, for programs and for supports for vulnerable Canadians. This is something that we have taken seriously, and we will continue to. At the same time, we are continuing to move forward on concrete measures to help Canadians, such as dental care, pharmacare and child care. These are things the Conservative Party continues to vote against in terms of helping vulnerable Canadians and in helping with affordability. The Leader of the Opposition is there to instrumentalize vulnerable Canadians and to try to play politics off of them. He is not there to help them.

Mr. Speaker, over the years, we have taken concrete steps to lower the cost of medication, and we will continue to do so, especially by developing a national strategy for drugs for rare diseases and progressing toward a universal national pharmacare program. This includes tabling legislation and working to ensure that it gets passed by the end of this year. We will continue to work to build a better health care system for all Canadians.

Mr. Speaker, no one in Canada should have to choose between putting food on their table and paying for their prescription medications. That is why we are continuing our work to lower drug prices. The member opposite speaks about small changes. We have made big changes by moving forward on bulk-buying power, by including and developing a national strategy for drugs for rare diseases and by progressing toward a universal national pharmacare program, which includes tabling legislation and working to have it passed by the end of this year. We will continue to work to build a better health care system for all Canadians, and we welcome everyone in this House working together on that.
