Mr. Speaker, the responsibility of every government is to protect the well-being of all Canadians, including Canadians who are members of minority groups and groups that are mistreated or typically ignored by the majority. We are here to invest and to protect these people. When someone who aspires to be a future prime minister of Canada continues to associate with extremist groups, white nationalist groups, he should at least either explain to Canadians why he is courting these people's support, or else condemn them. The Leader of the Opposition is doing neither.

Mr. Speaker, we need to be careful about associating a tragedy that happened in Prince George with the actions or inactions of any particular government. We understand how horrific this is for the family and for the community. We will continue to work to make sure that kids across this country are protected. That is why we are serious about moving forward in protecting them from online harms. This is an extremely serious issue that we will always handle with the respect and responsibility it deserves. This issue should not serve as an excuse to lob veiled accusations. It is a tragedy that we all need to work on together.

Mr. Speaker, that was a very good suggestion. I have asked my team to follow up, which they will do in the coming days, to make sure the party leaders have access to all the necessary information. This is a time for Canadians to stand united. I know people in various communities across the country are worried. They fear for their loved ones. They also fear for their children and their communities. Our job is to try to reassure people. I think all 338 members of the House have a responsibility to reassure people, to focus on our shared values and to be there for one another.

Mr. Speaker, over the past number of years, we have spent time across the world promoting Canada and Canadian workers. We have been talking about the leadership on environmental responsibility, the reconciliation with indigenous— Some hon. members: Oh, oh!

Mr. Speaker, it has been clearly established that ministerial responsibility is an important responsibility. That is why we are always willing to participate in the work of committees, including by sending the minister responsible for democratic institutions and the foreign affairs minister to committee tomorrow. I want to quote someone: For hundreds of years, ministerial responsibility has been a key principle in the House and at committees. The member for Carleton said that. We entirely agree with what he said several years ago.

Mr. Speaker, for several years now we have recognized that the federal government has a role to play in protecting the French language in Quebec. Yes, the Government of Quebec has its own responsibility, but the federal government does too. We will always respect the areas of jurisdiction. That is why we are ensuring that federally regulated businesses respect the principle of French first in Quebec, as well as in all the french-speaking communities across the country. That is one way to protect French from coast to coast to coast and we are proud of that.

Mr. Speaker, a lot of ink was spilled and there was a lot of admiration for the effectiveness of the Leader of the Opposition's campaign to become leader, using social media, using clever videos. We all marvelled at his admiration for old wood, but what we did not see was his choice to include deliberating reaching out to far-right organizations, including hateful anti-women organizations, to try and advance his own political gains. He has played too close to the line with extremists for too long. Now that he has gotten caught, will he admit it, will he apologize, will he take responsibility?

Mr. Speaker, he wants to help Canadians, but he will not stand with low-income Canadians who want to give their kids better smiles. However, there is another important issue that is on the minds of Canadians, particularly the minds of Canadian women, as we meet here. If it were not for Global News, we would not have learned that the Conservative leader has been purposefully using his videos to appeal to far-right misogynistic online movements. These are anti-women movements and they have had devastating real-life consequences. I call on the Conservative leader to stand in the House, take responsibility and apologize.

Mr. Speaker, I think my esteemed colleague in the Bloc Québécois skipped a step. All Quebeckers are also Canadians, and as Prime Minister of all Canadians, I have a responsibility to protect every individual's fundamental rights. This is something that I will always do, knowing that protecting my beautiful French language is a central priority for our government and for myself, as a Quebecker. Therefore, yes, we will assume our responsibility of protecting the fundamental rights of Quebeckers, who are also Canadians.

Mr. Speaker, we had this debate during the last election. In our government and in the Liberal Party, we have always emphasized that we firmly believe that the federal government has a responsibility to ensure that the quality of the health care and services provided across the country is the best possible for all Canadians. We will always work with the provinces and respect them, but we will ensure that all Canadians across the country receive quality care. That is what people expect.

Mr. Speaker, Conservatives cannot have it both ways. They spent the first few weeks of this challenge and illegal blockades saying that the government needed to act and take responsibility. When we finally move forward in a responsible way when the time was right to bring in the Emergencies Act, they are now complaining that we have done too much. At the same time and throughout, they continue to stand with, support and cheer on these illegal blockades. They are the ones playing politics.
