Mr. Speaker, eight out of 10 families across the country, in the regions where we have put a federal price on pollution, are getting more money with the price on pollution.
What the Leader of the Opposition is proposing is not only to take away the cheques that are given to families to help with the cost of groceries, rent and the impact of climate change, but also to do nothing to fight climate change and build a stronger future.
We are here to help Canadians with cheques. We are here to fight climate change.

Mr. Speaker, over the next 10 years, the federal government will invest an additional $198 billion in health care systems across the country, and that includes $46 billion in new money for the provinces and territories. The purpose of this money is to provide access to family doctors, provide access to better mental health services, especially for our youth, ensure that frontline health workers get appropriate support, and create better data and information systems for Canadians.

Mr. Speaker, what Canadians do not want is bickering between the provinces and the federal government. What Canadians want is for us to work together to deliver the best health care service, and that is exactly what we are doing.
Yes, there will be more money, but we also want to see results for Canadians. We want more family doctors, more help for mental health care, more help in our emergency rooms, and fewer delays for essential surgeries.
We all know what Canadians need. We will work together to get it done.

Mr. Speaker, remarkably, buried in that rhetorical attack, was something quite important. For perhaps the first time, the member of the official opposition has finally recognized that there is a rebate associated with the price on pollution, that we give back more money every year than the average family pays, related to the price on pollution.
We are actually there to support Canadians even as we fight climate change.
The leader of the official opposition does not much care for the fight against climate change but he should care about putting more money in people's pockets. That is why he should support our price on pollution.

Mr. Speaker, I think that Quebeckers, like Canadians, understand that the solution for health systems that do not perform as expected is not to simply inject more money.
Yes, money will help, and we will be there to invest more in health care systems. It will also take a collaborative approach to ensure that there will be results for Canadians and that health systems across the country work for them. That is exactly what we are focusing on.

Mr. Speaker, six years ago this government moved forward to make sure pollution was no longer free anywhere in this country. That is a core part of fighting climate change. At the same time as we moved forward with a price on pollution across the country, we ensured we returned more money than the average family pays out with that price on pollution in the areas in which it applies. That is how we ensure we are fighting climate change and putting more money in Canadians' pockets who need it.
