Mr. Speaker, the Centre de jour et d'entraide en santé mentale Le Traversier, the drop-in and mental health support centre in Trois-Rivières, is celebrating its 35th anniversary. The organization’s mission is to support people living with mental health issues during the healing process and help them attain a better quality of life. To better respond to the growing needs of clients, the organization unveiled an innovative project that will allow it to expand its services and reach more people in need: a mobile response unit. This unit will make it possible to reach out to people struggling with societal and mental health challenges, to meet them closer to their homes or communities. The fully autonomous vehicle is adapted to hold consultations and can even accommodate small groups for activities. I would be remiss if I did not mention the exceptional work of Ms. Shanaz Moussa, the executive director, and Ms. Isabelle Fortin, the board chair, who successfully mobilized the team and the board members behind this project. Congratulations to the entire Traversier team on this initiative.

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise to recognize the 40th anniversary of Le Pont, a women's employment resource centre in Trois‑Rivières. The organization's mission is to help women integrate, reintegrate and remain in the workforce. The organization provides women with the tools and supports they need to ensure their independence. Le Pont offers career counselling, coaching and job search assistance, serving as a link between women and employers. Le Pont has been a leader in the field since 1982, with a team that encourages women to recognize their own value and reach their full potential. In a society that is supposed to be egalitarian, I think we can all agree that that is an important mission. It was an honour for me to take part in the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary on November 10 at the Gouverneur Hotel in Trois‑Rivières. I would like to personally congratulate Annie Brassard, the executive director, Stéphanie Hamel, the chair of the board of directors, as well as the entire Le Pont team on the exceptional work they do for the women of the Mauricie region.

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise today to mark the 140th anniversary of the Port of Trois-Rivières. On this date in 1882, the newly formed Chamber of Commerce convinced the federal government to set up the Trois-Rivières Harbour Commission with the mission of modernizing the harbour facilities and integrating them into the rail network to stimulate the region's economy. A number of significant events in the first half of the 20th century contributed to the port's development, such as the arrival of major paper mills and the two world wars, which meant increased demand for grain transportation. The opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway in the late 1950s also gave the port a considerable boost. Growth continued during the 2000s as our urban port continued to develop and increase its socio-economic influence while reducing its environmental footprint. For all these reasons, we are proud of the Port of Trois-Rivières. Today, I would like to congratulate Danielle St-Amand and Gaétan Boivin who lead the board of directors and wish them a year of festivities worthy of their institution.

Mr. Speaker, today I want to pay tribute to an institution in my riding that is celebrating its 140th anniversary: the Trois-Rivières Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Chamber was founded in 1881, making it one of the oldest chambers of commerce in Quebec. It contributed to establishing the Port of Trois-Rivières and building the railway station. The mid-1940s saw the advent of the so-called modern Chamber with the introduction of a permanent secretariat. Women were able to join for the first time. The Chamber then orchestrated a campaign to convince the Government of Quebec to build a bridge over the St. Lawrence River. The theme was, “We need the bridge and we will have it”. In the 1980s, the Chamber contributed to several projects that helped shaped Trois-Rivières, including Parc portuaire, the revitalization of the downtown, and Saint-Quentin Island. Today the Chamber has 750 members, who make up a strong and dynamic business network. It contributes to the promotion and success of its members and to the development of the community. On the occasion of this 140th anniversary, I am sure that the member for Saint-Maurice—Champlain will join me in congratulating Cassy Bernier, president, Geneviève Scott-Lafontaine, acting director general, the entire board and the administrative staff.
