Mr. Speaker, I am grateful the member points out that we have voted against every single policy that has caused homelessness to rise by 38%. We have voted against every single inflationary policy that has forced one-quarter of Canadians to skip meals because they cannot afford a meal on their table. The government has doubled the debt, increased inflation and blocked home building.
Why is it that it forces Canadians to feed this morbidly obese government rather than feeding their families?

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister doubled the national debt and raised taxes and inflation on the grounds that all that money would fund generous programs to eliminate homelessness. Since then, homelessness has increased by 38%, and one-quarter of Canadians are skipping meals because they do not have enough money. With the support of the Bloc, the government is consuming every penny Canadians have.
Why is the Liberal Bloc forcing Canadians to feed this obese government instead of their families?

Mr. Speaker, it is a school food program that has not served a single solitary meal, even though it was promised three years ago. What the Prime Minister is feeding is bureaucracy, not children. If all of his spending were working, then why is it that Food Banks Canada reported today that 25% of young adults had to go to a food bank in three months alone, and two million Canadians are lined up every month?
With so many empty stomachs, is it not just a little bit wacko to be raising carbon taxes on farmers and food?

Mr. Speaker, his school food program has provided zero meals, zero. It feeds the bureaucracy, not the children.
Let us talk about austerity. In the past three months, 25% of young adults have had to go to a food bank. That is austerity. Some 50% of Canadians say they are worse off than they were last year and 25% are experiencing food insecurity. That is austerity.
How is it that the government has money to spare while ordinary Canadians are struggling to get by?

Mr. Speaker, after nine years and much spent, there has not been a single meal served.
What the Prime Minister has served up is a tax on the food of the very children he claims to want to help. It is a tax that will cost every single middle-class family more than they get back in rebates, according to a scientific study by the Parliamentary Budget Officer. It is a tax he increased by 23%.
If he really wants to stop the hunger for one in four kids in schools today, will he axe the tax?

Mr. Speaker, the only one thing that the Prime Minister wants to know about is himself. That is why he cannot help but use his own name right here on the floor of the House of Commons.
It is why the only concern he had about a business closing is that he is not going to get his favourite sandwich. That means people are losing their jobs. Customers are losing the ability to eat. One in five Canadians is skipping meals now, after eight years of the Prime Minister, and 1.5 million are going to the food bank. The carbon tax hits the farmers who make the food and the truckers who ship it, and therefore it taxes the food itself.
Why will he not bring down food prices, bring home lower prices and axe the tax?

Mr. Speaker, after eight years of this Prime Minister, one in five Canadians are skipping meals and 1.5 million have to go to food banks just to eat. We have a government that is costing 50% more because of red tape and a strike at the same time. What is the Prime Minister doing? He is going to New York on vacation with fancy people who have a lot of money, but not much common sense.

That is unaffordable for the average family, and it is because of this government's inflationary policies. One in five Canadians is skipping meals because they cannot afford their grocery bills.
When is the government going to reverse its inflationary policies so that Canadians can put food on the table?

Mr. Speaker, none of what the Liberals have done has actually worked. This week, we found out that 20% of Canadians are skipping meals or cutting portions to afford groceries. In fact, 1.5 million Canadians, in one month, have visited a food bank. Speaking of food banks, the one at Jane and Finch actually got kicked out of its location, because the rent doubled.
How much pain will Canadians have to suffer before the government stops its inflationary policies?
