Mr. Speaker, fear and falsehoods to distract from the fact that after eight years of the Prime Minister he is not worth the cost, and neither is his carbon tax, which will cost the average Ontario family this coming year $1,674. That is $1,674 for a middle-class family that has lined up at a food bank, not able to feed itself or pay its heating bill. Will the Prime Minister give his head a shake, cancel his cruel April Fool's Day joke and spike the hike?

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister does not need to get angry about it. I am just asking for some numbers here. He was very anxious to talk about these wonderful rebates up until a moment ago, and now he does not want to say a thing about them. He even gave them a fancy new name. I am going to say it again: In Ontario, the gross cost of the carbon tax is $1,674 for the average family. How much is the rebate?

Mr. Chair, he has not provided numbers. Let us give him another try. The Prime Minister said that housing would be more affordable under his leadership. When he took office, it was $1,400 for the average mortgage payment in Canada. What is the average mortgage payment in Canada today?

Mr. Chair, one can average the regions to get the number for the nation. That is what averages do. This is the housing minister. Surely he knows the average necessary minimum down payment on an average house. Could the housing minister please provide that basic housing information?

Mr. Chair, that is close, but it is actually a lot higher than the $452,000 when the Prime Minister promised that he was going to bring housing prices down. Back when he made that promise, the minimum down payment on an average house was $22,000. How much is it today?

Mr. Speaker, he wants to compare that with the Conservative record. I gave him a chance. I told him that when the Conservatives left office, the average monthly payment on a new house was $1,400. I asked him to tell us what it is today, and either he does not know or he is too afraid to admit that it has gone up to over $3,100. That is over a 100% increase. When the Prime Minister took office, a two-bedroom apartment in Canada's 10 biggest cities, on average, was $1,100. How much is it today?
