Mr. Speaker, he met the premiers in 2016. Since that time, he has broken the promise he made them. He said the tax would only go up to 11¢ a litre. Now, he admits it will go up to 61¢ a litre. He said the tax would make people better off. Now, we have the Parliamentary Budget Officer's report, which confirms that 60% of Canadians pay more than they get back. The Prime Minister said, in 2015, “Canadians need a Prime Minister who will meet with the Premiers”. What happened?

Mr. Speaker, if the facts that I have just quoted from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control are false, then maybe the Prime Minister can tell me what the real numbers are. I have asked him that. Given that he wants to bring in a 61¢-a-litre carbon tax and increase gas and diesel prices by 61¢ a litre on the farmers who produce the food and the truckers who bring it to the grocery store, how much will that tax increase add to the monthly cost of groceries for the average Canadian family?

Mr. Speaker, the carbon tax is not an environmental plan; it is a tax plan. It has done nothing to meet any targets, and it has done nothing to reduce the cost of climate change. What it has done is increase the cost of food, because when we tax the farmers who make the food and the truckers who ship the food, then we tax the food itself. Now, the Prime Minister's plan is not to triple the carbon tax but to quadruple the carbon tax, while he adds more and more. It is 61¢ a litre. My question is this. How much will his 61¢-a-litre carbon tax add to the monthly basket of food for Canadians?

Madam Chair, the minister cannot even answer. The cost of the new tax that the Liberals, the NDP and the Bloc want to impose on Quebeckers, is 17¢ a litre. Again, is she going to charge sales tax on the carbon tax in Quebec?

Madam Chair, I never supported such a thing so, of course, I do not need to disavow it. The question was this: The minister plans a second carbon tax. How much will that tax add to the price of a litre of gas? How much?

Madam Chair, she has a tax plan and she cannot even tell us how much it will cost. We know it will be 41¢ a litre for the first carbon tax. How much will it cost the average family in higher heat, gas and grocery bills? How much?

Madam Chair, it is funny that the United States does not have a carbon tax. It is even funnier that she thinks the bankers are happy. I am sure they are happy. They do not mind paying what turns out to be 41¢ a litre when this carbon tax is fully implemented. How much will that cap cost, net, for the average family?

Mr. Speaker, the question was about carbon tax 2. We already know about carbon tax 1. The Prime Minister has put in place a 14¢-per-litre tax that will rise to 41¢ per litre. This raises gas, heat and grocery bills. Now the Liberals are sneaking in a second carbon tax called the “fuel standard”. It has no rebate whatsoever, but will apply in every province and territory across the country. If the minister is so proud of her second tax, why will she not tell us exactly how much it will cost in higher diesel, gas and household costs per family?

Mr. Speaker, gas prices hit $2.40 a litre in Vancouver. They just jumped 10¢ a litre in one day in other markets. What is the NDP-Liberal solution? It is more price gouging. The costly coalition voted to triple the tax on gasoline and other essentials. The biggest price gougers in Canada are these two parties that form this costly coalition. When they do triple the tax, how much will it cost across Canada to buy a litre of gas?
