Bill S-260 designates May 17th of every year as "National Diffuse Midline Glioma Awareness Day" in Canada. Diffuse midline glioma is a type of aggressive brain tumor that affects children and has no cure. The goal of this bill is to increase public awareness of the disease and encourage investment in research to improve prognosis and treatment. May 17th is already recognized as a diffuse midline glioma awareness day in other countries. This bill aims to honor those who have died from the disease and bring attention to the need for continued research and support.
This enactment provides for the development of a national framework to support improved access for Canadians to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart failure.
This bill changes the Citizenship Act so that certain people who have lost their Canadian citizenship can regain it. It applies to those who previously applied to keep their citizenship but were rejected, and to those born outside Canada after February 14, 1977, who would be citizens if they had applied before April 17, 2009. There is an exception for those who were citizens on June 11, 2015. This bill only affects certain individuals and does not change the requirements for obtaining Canadian citizenship.
