Mr. Speaker, when it comes to the over-25,000 Palestinians killed by Netanyahu's brutal bombardment, the Liberals have done nothing to uphold international law and to protect innocent civilian lives. When it comes to Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian hate crimes, the Liberals have failed to stop it here in Canada. The community feels so betrayed that yesterday, the National Council of Canadian Muslims cancelled their meeting with the Prime Minister because they are tired of his broken lies— Some hon. members: Oh, oh!

Mr. Speaker, UN agencies have reported that over 10,000 Palestinian civilians have been killed and 1.5 million have been displaced by the Israeli siege and bombardment on Gaza since October 7. UN experts say that these attacks constitute war crimes of collective punishment and ethnic cleansing. Shamefully, the Prime Minister directed his ambassador to abstain from a vote on an immediate ceasefire in Gaza at the UN General Assembly. Yesterday, the Liberals and Conservatives voted against our motion calling for the same. How many Palestinian deaths will be enough for the Prime Minister to find the moral courage to call for a ceasefire?

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise in the House today to present a second petition that highlights the need for greater action to address the humanitarian crisis in Syria, particularly in light of the earthquakes that devastated the region earlier this year. The petition highlights the calls from the UN Special Rapporteur, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and member of the European Parliament Clare Daly to take immediate action to ensure greater aid could reach the most in need. The petitioners calls for the Government of Canada to immediately end sanctions against Syria and urge other states to follow suit, and amplify its aid and rescue efforts in all areas of the region.

Mr. Speaker, the second petition, e-petition 3775, has the support of 1,345 Canadians and is an important reminder that there is an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe and illegal war unfolding in Yemen. This petition calls on the government to immediately cancel all active and pending arms deals with Saudi Arabia, prevent any transfers of Canadian-made arms, demand the Saudi-led coalition to end its air strikes and military offensives, apply Magnitsky sanctions to Saudi leaders, significantly increase humanitarian aid to Yemen and expand the group of five sponsorship exemptions to Yemeni refugees.

Mr. Speaker, finally, I would like to present e-petition 3810, initiated by David Mivasair from my riding of Hamilton Centre, which seeks to bring attention to the recruiting of Canadian citizens to serve in the armed forces of foreign countries, with a particular concern for the potential foreign recruitment being undertaken by the Israeli consulate in Toronto. As members may be aware, the Foreign Enlistment Act states: Any person who, within Canada, recruits or otherwise induces any person or body of persons to enlist or to accept any commission or engagement in the armed forces of [a] foreign state or other armed forces operating in that state is guilty of an offence. This petition has had the support of more than 1,200 people, and a similar e-petition in the previous Parliament received close to 8,000 signatures. We were unable to table it due to the dissolution of Parliament. This petition calls on the Minister of Justice to undertake a thorough investigation of those who have recruited or facilitated recruitment for the Israel Defense Forces, and, if warranted, lay charges against those involved in recruitment and encouraging recruitment in the IDF.
