Madam Speaker, when catastrophic climate change hits communities like Lytton, B.C. with wildfires, or just last week with Fiona in the Maritimes, the Conservatives offer only thoughts and prayers. In fact, the leader of the official opposition made no mention of climate change. Canadians deserve to know what their plan is on climate change because, in response to our questions last night, the leader of the official opposition claimed that they would have technology, not taxes. Mr. Speaker, my second petition calls on the government to take immediate and concrete action to address the climate emergency in Canada. Since the Liberal government declared a climate emergency in 2019, we have endured heat domes and record heat waves in B.C., drought across the Prairies, flooding throughout the country, and massive storms in Ontario and Quebec that have left thousands of people without power for days on end. It is clear that we must act immediately to address the effects of catastrophic climate change. This petition calls for a broad spectrum of action, including reducing emissions levels by at least 60% of 2005 levels.
