Mr. Speaker, I fully disagree that racism went up during the last nine years in our government. What has happened is that there has been recognition of systemic racism. This has resulted in a higher number of complaints, which have been made public. Those have gone up. That is the reason we see an increase in the statistics.

Mr. Speaker, since 2014, Canada has had the third-largest increase in defence spending and ranks sixth among the 32 NATO countries. Recently, we announced that we are going to invest $8.1 billion over the next five years and increase it to about $73 billion over the next 20 years. I would like to ask the member if he can touch upon the recent announcement we made, where we said we are going to invest $295 million into the Canadian Armed Forces housing strategy to build new housing as well as to rehabilitate the existing housing stock. We also announced about $497 million for the electronic health records of the Canadian Armed Forces. Can he touch upon the recent announcement we made that refers to these increases to improve the strength of the Canadian Armed Forces?

Madam Speaker, the inflation rate in February was 2.8%, way below 3.1% expected by the private sector economists. It is much below the 8.2% that we saw in mid-2022. The grocery rate, food inflation, is 2.4%, way below the 3.4% in January, and well below the 11% that we saw in 2022 and 2023. Could the member explain how this lowering inflation rate and the increase in the carbon rebate that low-income families are going get this year will help them cope with the rising cost of living?

Mr. Speaker, in his speech, the hon. member mentioned the 31% increase in the number of Canadians using the assistance of this MAID legislation. I know this number of a 31% jump, when seen in isolation, is big. However, does the member agree that, because the legislation is fairly new, all the people who had been waiting and suffering for such a long time started utilizing these MAID legislation provisions? Does he agree that, going forward, when these MAID provisions are normalized, the rate of growth he quoted will not be so huge in the future?
