Mr. Speaker, again, my hon. friend is having some difficulty attaching himself to the facts. It is the Conservative senators who are blocking legislation requested by Conservative premiers and worked on by this government last spring and adopted by this House of Commons at all stages when we came back in September. Why is that legislation to strengthen bail reform and to keep Canadians safer not adopted now? Senators from the Conservative Party are blocking it. That might be something the Conservatives would like to do before Christmas.

Mr. Speaker, the government will continue to look for ways to increase Canadians' participation in the democratic process. We have a number of suggestions. The leader of the NDP and the Prime Minister, in the supply and confidence agreement, agreed to a number of elements that will improve access to voting. We are working on those kinds of issues, constructively, and the government has made it clear that there is no consensus in terms of the kind of reform that my hon. colleague is talking about. We are focusing on issues that matter to Canadians in terms of affordability, fighting against climate change and other issues that we think are very important.

Mr. Speaker, the Leader of the Opposition was the minister responsible for democratic reform in the previous Conservative government. In 2013, CSIS identified foreign interference as a challenge in the electoral context. Mr. Harper's former national security advisor raised this publicly in 2010, 13 years ago. When my hon. friend was the minister responsible for this very file, he did absolutely nothing to deal with the question of foreign interference. I know he is frustrated that we have done so much. The good news is that we will continue to do more because we take this issue very seriously.
