Mr. Speaker, my question for the member is actually building on what my colleague was just talking about, which is around the fact that we know that Quebec's system of affordable child care has been a model for the rest of the country. I am wondering if the member can share with us the benefits they have seen in Quebec in terms of gender equity, of women and all parents accessing child care, and of the quality of the child care that children have been receiving.

Mr. Speaker, according to a Leger survey, 70% of Quebeckers believe that the Quebec government should do more to increase the pool of available workers through economic immigration. Does the Bloc Québécois agree?

Mr. Speaker, I am going to try to ask another question in French. Quebeckers are fortunate to be able to rely on an electrical grid powered primarily by hydroelectricity. Can my colleague explain his vision of a more equitable carbon pricing system for Canadians across the country?

Mr. Speaker, as the member mentioned, like British Columbia, where I live, Quebec has had similar legislation for a long time. Can the member tell us a little bit more about the impact this law would have on people?

  • Re: Bill C-35
Madam Speaker, I always like hearing more about what is happening with child care in Quebec because we know, when we look across Canada, that families in Quebec have been provided accessible child care, and the positives have been evident for many years. Unfortunately, that has not been the experience in many other provinces and territories. We know that this is a step in the right direction. We know that there gaps in moving forward, and that is why the New Democrats are pushing for solutions, such as fighting for child care and having explicit commitments for fair wages and working conditions for staff. Those are things we are pushing for. I am wondering if the member could speak to whether he feels that having this explicitly listed in the bill would help move us in the right direction and address some of the gaps he was identifying.

Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague. Today, during the debate on Bill C‑32, the Conservatives proposed getting rid of the carbon tax on home heating in order to make life more affordable for Canadians. In Quebec, where the majority of heating is electric, this would have almost no impact on families who are struggling to make ends meet. Does my colleague agree that eliminating the GST on home heating would be a better way to help Quebeckers and Canadians?

Mr. Speaker, I thank my hon. colleague for her speech. I am sure my colleague knows that many Quebeckers do not have dental insurance. This bill is just the first step in our plan to ensure that all Canadians, including Quebeckers, have access to dental insurance. Can my colleague tell us whether she agrees that there should be a dental plan that covers all Canadians?

Madam Speaker, this is the first phase of our plan to provide dental insurance to all Canadians. Why is the member not on board with the idea of providing universal dental insurance coverage to all Canadians, including Quebeckers?
