Mr. Speaker, I heard someone say today that there is a shortage of services for French language training in Montreal, in the riding of the member who gave her speech. What can the government do to increase services?

Madam Speaker, I appreciate my colleague's great speech. In her speech, she was talking about average Canadians who are struggling. Could the member comment on the debt level of the average Canadian and where that is going?

Madam Speaker, I would like to thank the member for his speech and for all of his work for our beautiful parklands. Bill C-23 has many things I agree with, but I am concerned about one part of it and that is—

Mr. Speaker, I thank the Bloc member for her question. Mothers work very hard and it is unacceptable to ask them to sit until midnight to give speeches. I believe we should look to other countries that have achieved work-life balance. It is the right thing to do, and that is what we should be striving for in this place.

Madam Speaker, I thank the member for his speech. Is he concerned that committee work will be disrupted as a result of this motion?

Mr. Speaker, the member opposite always does a great job on his speeches and, with his experience in the past, he always gives good detail. I did like hearing that there are measures in this bill, other than just getting rid of a judge, that would address issues at a lower level. There are things like training and apologies in public. I wonder if the member could elaborate on the whole suite of options that are available there.

Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank the member for a great speech and for moving the amendment because I do have concerns about Bill C-18, especially when we heard the parliamentary secretary talk about how there would not be any discrimination. In every other media policy that the government has brought, there has been discrimination along the political spectrum and, as the member correctly pointed out, small and medium-sized news outlets. I would like to hear his comments on that.

Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank the hon. member for his speech. He talked about the Treasury Board and how the Treasury Board is going to have the responsibility over all the departments to make sure they are complying with the official languages and that they will be the ones with the plans. How do we make sure that the Treasury Board, which has a lot of different priorities, keeps this as a priority? Also, what will the Minister of Official Languages be doing then?

Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague opposite for an excellent speech and for his work on official languages. I would like to know whether he thinks the sanctions that are now able to be imposed on those who do not comply with the act are adequate to drive the right behaviour.
