Mr. Speaker, I would like to inform my colleagues that public servants are people who provide important services to Canadians for the government. We are currently negotiating to make sure we have an agreement that is competitive, fair to employees and reasonable to taxpayers. We are working very hard at the bargaining table and we will continue to do so until we have an agreement.

Mr. Speaker, public servants from the PSAC provide important services to Canadians, and the government values their work. The government is committed to reaching agreements at the bargaining table that are fair for the employees and reasonable for taxpayers. We have a good offer on the table. There is enough ground to reach a deal. Canadians expect us to work together, which is what we are doing today.

Madam Speaker, our government is committed to providing high-quality services to Canadians while ensuring the best value for taxpayers, which is why contracts are issued in a fair way in accordance with Treasury Board policy. The procurement of professional services is used to complement the work of Canada's professional public service by meeting unexpected fluctuations and workloads and to acquire special expertise, such as in response to the health care needs of remote northern communities. We know a strong federal public service is the best way to deliver for Canadians and we will continue to do so.
