Mr. Speaker, this is so disappointing, but it is what we have come to expect from the government, which is to try not to take responsibility. This is how we got into this situation. This is how I got into the situation of being a target of a foreign government; it was as a result of the government's inability to accept responsibility. As I said, this is what it does all the time. It says that these things are happening in other countries. First of all, we should be concerned about what is happening in Canada to Canadians. Clearly, once again, the government has shirked its responsibility in overseeing Canadians. This is also how the government treats its allies, as we have seen with Taiwan and Israel. If one's neighbour is getting robbed, raped, pillaged or murdered, does one sit there and stand by? No, one does not. One takes action as well. We not only have to take care of ourselves, but we also have to act as leaders in the world.

Mr. Speaker, even the Auditor General said that a crisis situation is no excuse for this lack of value for money for Canadians. Conservatives have today put forward a motion, related to arrive scam, to get money back from the contractors who did no actual work. There is one person in this chamber who can make that decision: the Prime Minister. He has the power to make the decision to get the money back for hard-working Canadians. Will the Prime Minister commit today to getting the money back for Canadians, or will he shirk his responsibility, as he usually does?

Mr. Speaker, Canadians are in desperate need of their tax refunds. After eight years of the Liberal government, Canadians are receiving poorer services despite a 50% increase in the bureaucracy. Outside these doors, we have the largest public service strike in the history of Canada. Will the Prime Minister take responsibility for the countless Canadians who are counting on their tax refunds and end this strike?

Madam Speaker, first, I would like to thank the Bloc Québécois for its Bill C‑290, which is currently before the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates. Of course we agree that workers' rights are important. I think that we can also agree that the government and the Prime Minister are to blame for the current strike. Based on the questions I got, it is clear that we agree on a lot of things concerning workers' rights and the government's responsibility.

Madam Speaker, this is what we hear repeatedly from the government, that it is not its fault, even though after eight years of the Liberal government we have Canadians at food banks, we have mortgages and rents that have doubled, we have a public service strike of a magnitude we have not seen in 40 years, and we have had foreign interference. A Poilievre government will change this. A Poilievre government will take responsibility—

Mr. Speaker, since 2015, the Prime Minister has spent $21 billion more on the public service and $22 billion on outside consultants, yet he was not capable of negotiating an agreement with the public service. It is Canadians who are suffering. It is Canadians who are not receiving their passports, Canadians' loved ones whose immigration processes will be elongated and Canadians who will not receive their tax refunds. Will the Prime Minister take responsibility and apologize, not only to the public service, but also to Canadians, for failing to reach a negotiation?

Mr. Speaker, the Liberal government is determined to phase out Canada's oil and gas sector, and now our labour minister is surprised that we do not have enough workers in this industry to keep up with demand. As prices for gas and diesel keep climbing, the Liberal government knows its policies have put us here. Its years of industry-killing legislation and laying off thousands of workers are ruining families and lives. When will the government take responsibility for this cost-of-living crisis and provide Canadians with some relief?

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister can learn that we can have both. If we did not have the unconstitutional Bill C-69 limiting our Canadian oil and gas exports, then Canadians would actually be able to afford to fill up their tanks so they could go to work and take their kids to school. When will the Prime Minister take responsibility for his role in this cost-of-living crisis and finally stop making life harder for the average Canadian?
