Mr. Speaker, I rise before my colleagues in the House today to respond to a concern raised yesterday regarding a response I gave to the Bloc Québécois. I used some language yesterday that I will not repeat for the purposes of this point of order. I understand that the words I used may have offended some people. I therefore withdraw them and apologize.

Mr. Speaker, I did more than want to rise. I did rise. If I used unparliamentary language, I am glad to apologize. What I did say to the member opposite is that if he wants to call me out in the House of Commons, he can at least have the decency to come see me before that. There are plenty of opportunities. If we are going to have a debate on the substance of this, Mr. Speaker, I think you should understand the motivations for the words that I did express, but if the member has the intellectual integrity to want support for his bill, he can come up and ask me to support it. I told him to get off his ass. If that is unparliamentary, I apologize. Some hon. members: Oh, oh!
