Mr. Speaker, I would like to acknowledge the exceptional achievements of Macadam Sud, an organization in my riding that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Macadam Sud's mission is to support and empower troubled adolescents and young adults by tackling issues such as homelessness, mental health, school drop-outs and isolation, to name just a few. A large part of the Macadam Sud team is made up of street outreach workers. They meet young people in their environment and offer them support without judging them, with respect and dignity. I want to congratulate all the members of the current Macadam Sud team for the important work they are doing. I also want to thank all those who, over the past 40 years, have contributed to the organization's mission and consequently enabled many young people in Longueuil—Charles-LeMoyne to improve their quality of life. I wish Macadam Sud continued success.

Mr. Speaker, with National Volunteer Week recently behind us, I would like to take a moment to honour the many volunteers in my riding of Longueuil—Charles-LeMoyne. Over the years, I have had the privilege of meeting many of these volunteers, who give so generously of their time, talent and energy for the sake of others. They strengthen the fabric our communities and make a huge difference in the lives of the people around them. In a world that is changing by the minute, they make a vital contribution to the well-being of our communities. We all know that times are hard. People of all ages need help, and volunteers answer the call without asking for anything in return. Their commitment benefits us all and deserves recognition and support. For that reason, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all the volunteers who contribute their skills and time for the good of their fellow citizens. To all the volunteers, thank you.

Madam Speaker, last Wednesday, I had the very great pleasure of attending the Longueuil fire departments' distinguished service medal presentation ceremony. This event was an opportunity to recognize 58 of the department's firefighters who have 20, 30 and even 40 years of loyal service. Fighting fires is an essential and dangerous job. Every day, firefighters put themselves at risk to ensure the safety of their citizens and community. As we all know, they are exposed to ongoing risks even after the fire is extinguished. It was an honour for me to be at this very special ceremony to pay tribute to this exceptional group of firefighters, some of whom I have known for many years and count as friends. They have dedicated their lives to keeping our citizens and our communities safe. I am proud to pay tribute to all those who were awarded medals. Congratulations.
