Mr. Speaker, Canadians deserve to retire with dignity, and they can with the world-renowned Canada pension plan. However, Danielle Smith is trying to pull Alberta out of the CPP, and the Conservative leader has spent his entire career attacking workers' pensions while he benefits from a public pension himself. New Democrats are fighting back. Today I tabled a bill that would protect the CPP from Conservatives and give Canadians and Albertans a say in the future of their CPP. Will the Liberals support my bill, or will they stand with the cut-and-gut Conservatives?

Madam Speaker, multiple times we have allowed the Conservatives to bring forward a motion on the carbon tax in this place. Many of them have stood and said in the House today that this is the number one thing they are hearing from their constituents. I have been thinking about this a lot today, and the number one issue that constituents are reaching out to me about right now is dental care, bar none. Dental care is the number one issue, and I am proud the Liberals are going to support the NDP's call for dental care. The number two issue I am hearing about is the CPP, and we know the Liberals are supporting the CPP. The number three issue, which I have received 150,000 emails about, is a ceasefire for Gaza. These are the things my constituents care about. We have two out of three. Can we get three out of three?

Madam Speaker, the member, in his intervention today, spoke about the CPP. Polls show that Albertans are overwhelmingly opposed to the plan by Danielle Smith to introduce the APP, the Alberta pension plan. We know that the leader of the official opposition has said he does not support the Alberta pension plan. Albertans deserve to know how their members of Parliament stand on this. I do not support the Alberta pension plan. Could the member tell us whether he supports or does not support the Alberta pension plan?

Madam Speaker, in the member's intervention today, he spoke a lot about how seniors are impacted. I 100% agree with him. I spoke to one of my constituents, Laura, who is really struggling to make ends meet. Would the member not agree that increasing OAS for seniors across the country, making sure that seniors 65 to 75 get the same amount as seniors over 75 and making sure that, particularly in Alberta, the CPP is protected for seniors are very important things? Would he support our calls for an increase to OAS so that 65-year-old seniors get the same treatment as those who are older, and for CPP to remain in seniors' hands?

Madam Speaker, I do not always find myself agreeing with the member, but today I do— Some hon. members: Oh, oh! Ms. Heather McPherson: I will let my colleagues finish their little rage fit over there. I do not know if the member is aware as he is not from Alberta, but in Alberta, our UCP government is actually talking about taking our Alberta pensions away from the CPP, which is very dangerous. This is something that so many Canadians depend on for a dignified retirement. I do not think it is near sufficient the way it is, but the immorality and dangerous things that are being put forward by the Conservative Party with regard to our pensions are very disturbing.
