Mr. Speaker, after eight years of the failed Liberal government, Canadians are hurting. After eight years of its soft-on-crime policies, such as catch-and-release, we have record crime rates. After eight years, Canadians cannot afford to live. After eight years of the failed carbon tax that punishes anything that moves, we have yet to meet an emissions target. Conservatives will keep the heat on and take the tax off. After eight years of scandals, Canadians cannot trust the government or the Prime Minister. Why would they? Earlier this week, we caught another Liberal MP breaking ethics laws. After eight years of Liberal friends and insiders getting rich, Canadians have had enough. When will the Prime Minister take responsibility for what he broke and get out of the way so we can fix his mess?

Madam Speaker, Canadians are hurting given that out-of-control inflation is getting worse under this costly NDP-Liberal coalition. Canadians are cutting back on food. Moms are watering down their milk for their kids. One in five Canadians are skipping meals because they cannot afford to eat, while the Prime Minister is jetting away to London and staying at a $6,000-a-night fancy hotel. Is he kidding me? Why will the Liberals not give Canadians some relief and cancel their plan to triple the taxes on gas, groceries and home heating?

Mr. Speaker, Canadians have been dealing with a lot of gaslighting from the other side of the chamber when it comes to EI tax hikes. It is refreshing that the finance minister has finally admitted it, when she said, “Doubling the GST...for six months is around $2.5 billion and the proposed EI freeze is around $2.5 billion”. Given that she is finally admitting that EI is a tax, will she commit the government today to stopping the planned tax hike on Canadian paycheques?
