An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act and to make consequential and related amendments to other Acts
  • Bill S-2 is an amendment to the Parliament of Canada Act that includes various changes. One change is regarding the additional annual allowances paid to senators in certain positions. The government representatives and the opposition in the Senate will be eligible for the allowances for five positions each, while the three other recognized parties or parliamentary groups in the Senate with the most members will be eligible for the allowances for four positions each. Another change is that the Leader of the Government in the Senate or Government Representative, the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, and the leaders or facilitators of other recognized parties or parliamentary groups in the Senate will be consulted on the appointment of certain officers and agents of Parliament.
