44th Parl. 1st Sess.
May 05, 2022
  • Bill C-272, also known as the Employing Persons with Disabilities Act, aims to develop a national employment strategy to increase the economic participation of individuals with disabilities. The Minister of Employment and Social Development will work with representatives from provincial governments to develop this strategy. The strategy will focus on educating business owners and employers about the potential contributions of individuals with disabilities, correcting misconceptions about employing them, promoting inclusive hiring practices, and promoting the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. The Minister will also hold at least one conference with provincial government representatives to aid in the development of the strategy. The Minister will prepare a report on the national strategy within two years of the Act receiving royal assent, which will then be tabled in Parliament and published on the Department of Employment
