Mr. Speaker, the Liberal-NDP government has created a made-in-Canada housing crisis. Our country is now the least affordable housing market in the entire world, and the Prime Minister's costly policies have only made matters worse. Retirees are now living in laundry rooms, millennials are living in their parents' basements, students are living under bridges and Canadians of all ages are having to choose between paying their rent or mortgage, and putting food on the table and heating their homes. Investing in a home of one's own is about shelter, but it is also about independence, stability and opportunities. These dreams used to be available and achievable for any Canadian, but not anymore. The Liberals have no real solutions to fix their made-in-Canada housing crisis. After eight years, the chickens have come home to roost, or at least they would if they had a home. Conservatives will build the homes, fix the budget, axe the tax and stop the crime. Now, let us go.

Mr. Speaker, buying a house used to be a milestone moment, like getting one's driver's licence, starting one's career, getting married and becoming a parent, or becoming Speaker, but the Liberals' failure to cut red tape and get houses built has made housing unaffordable for most people. In Ontario, the gap between house prices and incomes has become a chasm. Over eight years, the Liberals have seen house prices grow by 180% while incomes have grown only 38%. As inflation and the cost of living go up, an entire generation of young people is left behind, as is the ability to settle down and pursue their dreams. The Prime Minister is sending a clear message to young Canadians: It does not matter how hard they work or what sacrifices they make; with the Liberals in charge, they will never own homes and never get to enjoy the same quality of life their parents and grandparents did. This is unacceptable.

Mr. Speaker, the Liberals' made-in-Canada housing crisis has gotten out of control. It is the same situation across the country, including in my community of York—Simcoe. Working Canadians have been priced out of the housing market with no hope in sight. Home builders are stopping the construction of new homes. Liberal inflation has caused prices for materials to skyrocket. There is no way for builders to know the fair market value of a home that would not be ready for at least two years. Why is the Liberal government making it even harder for Canadians to own a home?
