- That, given that,
(i) 2023 saw a record fire season due to climate change, in which the area burned was double that of the historic record, and hundreds of thousands of Canadians were evacuated from their homes,
(ii) Canadians continue to struggle with dramatic increases to the cost of living while Canada’s biggest corporations, including oil and gas corporations, post record profits,
(iii) federal government programs aimed at supporting energy efficient retrofits such as heat pumps are hard to access, especially for low-income Canadians,
(iv) effective climate action must also address the very real affordability concerns of ordinary Canadians,
the House call on the government to:
(a) remove the GST from all forms of home heating;
(b) make eco-energy retrofits and heat pumps free and easy to access for low-income and middle-class Canadians, regardless of their initial home heating energy source; and
(c) finance these changes by putting in place a tax on the excess profits of big oil and gas corporations.

- That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word “That” and substituting the following:
“the sixth report of the Standing Committee on International Trade, presented on Monday, March 20, 2023, be not now concurred in, but that it be recommitted to the Standing Committee on International Trade with instruction that it amend the same to include reference to: (a) the $54 million hard-earned Canadian tax dollars wasted on the application; (b) the inaccurate evidence government officials provided during the committee’s investigation; (c) the serious allegations of fraudulent contract practises that are cause for grave concern; and (d) the statement made by the RCMP that they are investigating criminality in the contracts that were awarded, and accordingly, that it recommend that the Auditor General of Canada update Canadians on where the money went.”.

- This bill, known as Bill S-242, is an amendment to the Radiocommunication Act. It states that spectrum license holders must provide service to at least 50% of the population within the geographic area covered by the license. Additionally, for certain radio frequencies, they must provide service to at least 50% of the population within any Tier 5 service areas located within the geographic area covered by the license. If a license holder sells the license within three years of receiving it, they must include these conditions as a condition of sale. If a license holder fails to comply with these conditions, the Minister has the power to revoke the license. There are also provisions for a transitional period and the reissuance of licenses that have been revoked.

- This bill, called S-281, is an amendment to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act in Canada. It states that for offenders who are serving a sentence for first or second-degree murder, parole will be reviewed according to specific time frames set by law, rather than being based on the offender's application. This means that once the Parole Board has decided not to grant day or full parole, or has canceled or terminated parole for the offender, their parole will be reviewed again based on these time frames.
