Bill S-225, also known as the Cluster Munitions Investment Prohibition Act, aims to prohibit investing in any entity that has breached a prohibition related to cluster munitions, explosive submunitions, and explosive bomblets. This bill amends the Prohibiting Cluster Munitions Act to strengthen regulations and prevent investment in organizations involved in the production or use of cluster munitions. It is designed to uphold Canada's commitments under the Convention on Cluster Munitions. The bill also includes a transitional provision allowing individuals to divest themselves of any prohibited investments made prior to the enactment of the Act within one year.
