An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (final disposal of plastic waste)
  • The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 has been amended with Bill S-234 to prohibit the export of certain types of plastic waste for final disposal in foreign countries. The list of plastic waste types is outlined in Schedule 7, and the Governor in Council may amend the list by adding or deleting types on recommendation by the Minister. Violation of this law is punishable as an offence, and the provisions of the Act come into effect 12 months after royal assent.
