Rent Control for All Tenants Act, 2022
  • This is a new law called the Rent Control for All Tenants Act, 2022. It changes some rules about rent in Ontario. One specific change is that Section 6.1 of the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 is being removed. The law will start as soon as it gets the approval of the King or Queen.

An Act to amend the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 with respect to rules relating to rent

His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1 Section 6.1 of the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 is repealed.

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3 The short title of this Act is the Rent Control for All Tenants Act, 2022.
