An Act to amend the Constitution Act, 1867 (oath of office)
  • This bill changes the Constitution Act, 1867 to allow elected officials in Canada to choose to take either an oath of allegiance, an oath of office, or both, before taking their seat in the Senate or House of Commons. The oath of office commits to carrying out duties in the best interest of Canada while upholding its Constitution. This bill was introduced in June 2023 and is now available on the House of Commons website.
