  • This bill extends subsidies provided under the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS), and Canada Recovery Hiring Program until May 7, 2022 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The subsidies will be available to the tourism and hospitality sectors and organizations facing significant revenue declines. Entities must demonstrate a revenue decline over a 12-month period of the pandemic, as well as a current-month decline. The bill also allows for the government to further extend the subsidies until July 2, 2022. Additionally, the bill establishes the Canada Worker Lockdown Benefit Act, which authorizes payment of benefits to workers in regions under COVID-19 lockdown. It also makes amendments to the Income Tax Act and Income Tax Regulations.
