I want to give a quick reminder that we cannot support petitions. I know this has happened a couple of times today, starting from over on that side, and then it went over to this side. Whether we support a petition or not, make sure that we keep that to ourselves. The hon. member for New Westminster—Burnaby.

Before we go to questions and comments, I would remind members to use riding names when referring to others in the chamber. I know this has been brought up a number of times. We should say the right. hon. Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition or the member for Dauphin—Swan River—Neepawa. We want to make sure that we at least give people the correct title while speaking on the floor of this chamber.

I must inform the hon. members that an amendment to an opposition motion can only be proposed with the consent of the mover. In the event that he is not present, the House leader, deputy House leader, whip or deputy whip of the mover's party may give or refuse consent in the mover's place. Since the sponsor is not present in the chamber, I am asking the acting whip if he consents to the amendment being moved.
